Between 2026 and 2028, Domus Dorpatensis will organise a total of 15 regional hackathons across Estonia, commissioned by the Civil Society Foundation as part of the project ‘To increase the impact of civil society and support its development’.
The aim of the hackathons is to bring together young people, voluntary organisations and communities to find practical solutions for greater youth involvement in community and voluntary activities. The shared objective of non-governmental organisations and young people is to propose and implement solutions to the problems or opportunities facing their community, region or society at large.
Each hackathon is a 25-hour on-site collaborative brainstorming session, during which participants work in teams to develop solutions to local and regional challenges. The focus is on understanding community issues, actively involving young people, and developing collaborative solutions. The aim of hackathons is not to develop commercial products or services, but to design practical engagement solutions and models of collaboration.

The series’ opening hackathon will take place in Tartu on 17–18 October. The venue is the ‘Väike till’ event centre, located in the Aparaaditehas building at Kastani 42.
